Colorado 2009 – Day 1

Well…we made it away from the driveway on time at 10am after stopping 3 times before the sidewalk started. We had a nice goodbye by Em and Kai!
Our first stop was in Carefree for coffee (I know, I know and little early) and a snack for Justin. We proceeded to Flagstaff where we experienced a nice rain shower and made our first detour to take Justin to see part of the Grand Canyon. We stopped first at a little scenic stop and did a little hike to a 1000 ft cliff with NO railing.

Flashback: Zoo Trip, October 2008

We took a trip to the zoo with Justin, Kai and Micah…and have pictures to prove it! Plus, the video above is an extra. There was a turkey at the zoo who apparently either had a fascination with Justin or had a competitive side. Regardless, it appeared to mimic his every move and made for a good video. The “Way Back” Machine

In order to make up time, I’m going to have to make some historical posts…i.e., posts that are up to 6 months old. Because I hope to be making several of these over the next week or two, I will NOT be sending out notifications as I post them…I figured many of you don’t want those kinds of emails. So, if you are interested in seeing pictures from the last 6 months, be sure to check back regularly! First post, coming up!

The Long Overdue Update

I know, I know. It’s been about forever since we’ve updated the site and it’s my (Drew’s) fault. That’s about to change. I am embarking on a mission to bring the last six months of our lives onto the website. It will, of course, take time, so I ask for patience…but hopefully these updated pictures will suffice until I do some backfill. Hit the link to see more pictures!

In Loving Memory of Doris Rae Meldrum

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lisa’s grandmother, Doris Meldrum. While we will miss her dearly here on Earth, we know that she is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where there is no more pain and a perfect peace. And if there is travel in heaven, we’re pretty convinced she’s taking advantage of every trip they offer.
Following is her obituary as it appeared in the Arizona Republic on Sunday, September 21st, 2008:
“Doris Rae Meldrum of Mesa, AZ passed away September 18, 2008. She was born in Tucson, AZ. and is survived by her husband Donald, children, Susan McCulla, Linda Liesch and Roger Schmuck, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a retired manager at First Federal Savings and Loan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mesa and a member of PEO. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Hansen Chapel of Prayer Mortuary, 108 N. 56th St. Mesa, AZ. 85205. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., Ste A-100, Phoenix, AZ 85021”
Gigi, we miss you dearly.

Video of Micah

We were thinking that some of you might enjoy seeing Micah actually moving around…so, we took a short little video of it and are posting here for all to enjoy! To view the video, hit the play button above. Enjoy! And please mention in the comments if it doesn’t work.

Micah’s First Swim

On August 16th, 2008 at our neighbor’s Maggi and Stephen’s house Micah took his first swim! He wasn’t quite sure what to think of the experience, but much appreciated the heated towel that Maggi provided him after his dip. We also learned that Pampers can hold an amazing amount of liquid as the diaper must have weighed about 6 pounds when we were finished. Hit the jump for more pictures. And again, clicking any of the pictures will take you to the full album of baby pictures!

An Unusual Addition to the Family

We just picked up our second addition to the family in a period of a week…however, this is not a normal addition! Justin has been saving up for a Bearded Dragon for several months…something that does not come cheap when you include the price of the cage, “habitat”, heat lamp, UV lamp, etc. However, with his birthday a few weeks ago, he received several generous gifts that allowed him to finally meet his goal.

Micah Scott B, born August 4th, 2008

It’s a boy! Micah Scott was born on Monday, August 4th, 2008 at 7:26pm. He weighed in at 7lbs 11oz and was 20 1/2 inches long…quite a bit bigger than Justin! Lisa and Micah are both doing very well, though it will definitly take a little time to recover. We left the hospital this morning just before noon, went by Justin’s school to pick him up and headed home for some much deserved R&R.
Hit the jump for some more pictures, or click any of the pictures here to be taken to the entire album.
