There’s not much I can say that this video does not. Something our country seems to be forgetting. You’ll need a fairly fast connection and Windows Media Player to see it (if in doubt, click the link and if it plays, you have it):

Off-roading in Arizona
This past Saturday, Lisa and I had the chance to go off-roading with our neighbors and good friends, Maggie and Stephen. They have a Jeep and regularly travel the trails around Arizona and have been trying to get us to go with. Well, a weekend finally opened up and we decided to take a trip to Crown King, Arizona…the LONG way! Only accessible through mountain trails, 4-wheel drive is almost mandatory, and many will just park their trucks at the bottom and drive their 4-wheelers up to the town. We chose to take one of the longer, more difficult trails and spent about 6 hours following river beds and mining trails without seeing another vehicle other than a few ATVs. Justin’s 6th Birthday
Another year has passed and Justin turned 6 over the weekend! His birthday landed on, in my opinion, the best day of the week for a birthday to land on: Friday. Why is it the best? Because you get 3 days of celebration, which is exactly what happened!
He started on Friday with us waking him up and singing Happy Birthday to him. Then he got to take Spongebob cupcakes to school and they sang to him again. Then I picked him up and took him to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, where he got to play in the playplace and rounded it up with an ice cream cone. Then Lisa took him to the Arizona Science Center in the afternoon, after which we went to Red Robin for dinner where he got MORE ice cream and they sang to him AGAIN! What a day! However, the fun didn’t stop there. Click below to keep reading and hear about the big party!

A story of what goes around…comes around. Remember the VW Bug for my mom? Well…mom got us this weekend!! It started with a trip up North to my mom’s that Drew and I were dreading untill I finally looked over to Drew and said, “We are NOT working on our lot this weekend.” Instead, we would enjoy the weather (if all possible, I mean it is ONLY 20 degrees cooler 😉 ) and our time together away with Justin. We felt better after that knowing we will hit it hard the next weekend when we go up together. We knew that there was a lot of work to be done on the lot…cutting lots of tress down, laddering the trees, picking up the dead and down (old dead logs on the ground) and a incredible amount of raking of pine needles and oak leaves. We thought we’d never get it done…until this past weekend…
Indy is growing up!
The inevitable is happening…Indy is growing into a good sized dog! At about 9 weeks old, his paws are still huge and he’s now big enough that putting shoes up on chairs just isn’t enough to keep him from chewing them! However, he was housebroken within a week and within about a day of installing the doggie door he started going out on his own to go potty. He loves his walks (more for the smells and people we see along the way than anything) and he’s already starting to fetch tennis balls. Indiana Vacation – May 2006
Just as the temperatures were breaking 100 degrees in Phoenix we packed our suitcases and headed to Indiana. Not only was this the longest I’ve been home since college, but it was the longest trip Lisa, Justin and I had ever taken together! And the week certainly had some exciting moments…including a new family member!
Delivery of the bug!

For Mother’s day, Lisa and I gave Lisa’s mom a Volkswagen bug. “WHAT!?!?!” you may be saying? The story goes way back to a dream that Lisa has had for many years…a dream to “bring back her mom’s original bug”. This past weekend we made this a reality! Keep reading for the whole story, and be sure to check out our pictures in our photo album HERE, or by clicking the above pictures.
Sabbatical?
Wow. Four months is waaaaay too long! I’ve been horrible with updates and I appologize…let’s see if I can’t get things all caught up.
In January, we were fortunate enough to spend New Years with our friends (and Lisa’s bestest friend ever) Jennifer and Eric and their children. We were there for about 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! To add to it, we spent New Year’s Even with all of my college friends, something that, I think it’s safe to say, has long been an annual tradition. Skiing at Loveland, Kareoke, laughter, and buying a bath tub are all key parts of that time…it was fabulous!
Our Christmas
New Front Yard
Not much news, except our moonscape front lawn no longer looks so desolate as of this morning! No longer just a yard full of rocks…we now have trees! Here’s the before and after pictures of the front. It’s kind of hard to see them and it’s not exactly the same angle, but close enough.
