It’s been quite a while since either of us has written…we’ve just been WAY too busy! Between planning a wedding and remodeling a house, it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. However, here’s a quick update on the house:
Since the beginning of February, we have almost completely gutted the house in Mesa and began to rebuild. We started by scraping off the popcorn ceilings…a very messy job! Luckily, we were planning to tear out the carpet anyway, so we just scraped it off straight onto the carpet. Then we tore out every closet in the house, ripped up all the smelly carpet, tore out the kitchen cabinets and 3 layers of laminate flooring, tore out the bathrooms, removed the soffit in the kitchen and small bathroom and removed the gross shower doors in the master bathroom.
The Kitchen Before
The Kitchen During
Then it was time to rebuild. We installed new closet systems, textured and primed the ceilings, painted every wall in the house, painted and installed new baseboards in the bedrooms, installed new carpet in the 3 bedrooms, installed tile throughout the rest of the house, installed brand new kitchen cabinets and appliances, rebuilt the ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom, installed new cabinets in the bathrooms, and installed new fans and lights in every room. *WHEW*
Are we tired? YES! Are we excited with the progress? YES! Has this been expensive? YES! Is there more left to do? YES! We still have to install the new countertops in the bathrooms, install the water softener, install the double oven, new kitchen countertop, sink, and smooth top, and then CLEAN LIKE WE’VE NEVER CLEANED BEFORE! So we’re very close, and I think our contractor (who’s been doing all the major work) is ready to be rid of us. However, if we can survive remodeling a house together, seems like we CERTAINLY should be able to survive a marriage, right???
And it looks even better in person!
