Aloha from Hawaii!

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Ok, mom, here are the Hawaii pictures. You can stop asking now!
For the rest of you, Lisa and I had the opportunity to head to Hawaii for a week with our good friends Jen and Eric. Jen and Eric were celebrating their 10 year wedding annivarsary and asked if we’d join them. Not ones to disappoint, we eagerly agreed! We ended up having a wonderful time and Eric even got his Mai Tai with a little umbrella to show the guys back home.

Highlands Camping Trip 2006

Northern Arizona

This past weekend Lisa, Justin and I joined Rose and Russ (“Nana and Papa”) and Jason on the annual Highlands camping trip up in Flagstaff. Even though Lisa wasn’t feeling well, we still managed to make the trip and had a wonderful time up in the cool air! The weekend included various “summer camp” type games, lots and lots of food, campfires and s’mores, and a 1.5 mile hike through a lava tube…and Justin made it the whole way! We finished off the weekend with a Sunday morning church service and lunch at Lisa’s mom’s on the way home. It was a much needed weekend for relaxation and I THINK Lisa even felt better by the end of it! Keep reading to see some of the key pictures from the trip (click any picture to be taken to our album with ALL the pictures!).

Off-roading in Arizona

Maggie loves her water!

This past Saturday, Lisa and I had the chance to go off-roading with our neighbors and good friends, Maggie and Stephen. They have a Jeep and regularly travel the trails around Arizona and have been trying to get us to go with. Well, a weekend finally opened up and we decided to take a trip to Crown King, Arizona…the LONG way! Only accessible through mountain trails, 4-wheel drive is almost mandatory, and many will just park their trucks at the bottom and drive their 4-wheelers up to the town. We chose to take one of the longer, more difficult trails and spent about 6 hours following river beds and mining trails without seeing another vehicle other than a few ATVs. Keep reading for the full story and more pictures!

The Family

Just as the temperatures were breaking 100 degrees in Phoenix we packed our suitcases and headed to Indiana. Not only was this the longest I’ve been home since college, but it was the longest trip Lisa, Justin and I had ever taken together! And the week certainly had some exciting moments…including a new family member!

Much needed vacation

Sweet Vacation

Well, with our new carpet finally laid, it was time for a much needed vacation. Lisa, Justin and I embarked with 5 other friends on a week long vacation via cruise ship to Ensenada, Mexico last week. Midnight buffets, friends, cuban cigars, tropical fru-fru drinks, Drew dressed as a woman…it was everything we thought it could be! We departed from L.A. last Monday, hit San Diego on Tuesday, Catilina on Wednesday, Ensenada on Thursday and then it was back home. From a screw in our tire on the way out to the other car almost running out of gas on the way home, the trip had all the fun and excitement you would expect.
