Drew and Lisa Hike Fossil Springs

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

For our anniversary, Lisa planned a trip up North to Rim Country to do some hiking. It was our first overnighter with no kids since Micah was born…long overdue! We left Friday, stayed in Strawberry on Friday night, hiked on Saturday, stayed at Lisa’s mom’s in Blue Ridge Saturday night and came home Sunday…all while Linda watched the kids. Yay!

The hike itself is beautiful…it’s 4 miles in and 4 miles out with a 1,500 ft elevation drop. LOT of work, but was a good time despite feeling like we were going to pass out at the end.

Here’s a quick video with highlights of the trip…enjoy!

Lisa’s 1st day of truck driving school

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

I had quite the surprise on Saturday! Our neighbor Stephen (“Opa” to the kids) told me to come over at 8am for my birthday present. When I showed up he said, “I’m taking you driving…in my truck”. My birthday present was that he was going to teach me how to drive his semi, something I’ve always wanted to do!

We went to “the pit”, which is an old quary where he parks his trailer, and hooked up the trailer. He made me do all the work to get ready and then walked me through how to actually drive. Then for the next 10-15 minutes he talked me through driving the full semi and trailer around the pit!

While I could tell you more details, I think I’ll just let you watch the video…it was the experience of a lifetime and I couldn’t thank him enough!!!!!

Anniversary Train Ride

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

I decided for our 5 year anniversary to take a quiet and relaxing train ride along the Verde Canyon River without any kids.  We had a wonderful time sitting in our First Class car enjoying a bottle of wine, great food and would every once in awhile take a little trip to the open air observation car to enjoy the scenery and the air.  We saw many rock formations and even a Bald Eagle.

We had a great time together and enjoyed a few moments together while the kiddos were safe with their friends.

Cub Scouts - Bear

That’s right!¬† After working super hard on finishing up his requirements (and with the help of an AWESOME new Den and Den Leaders!) Justin was able to earn his Bear at the last pack meeting of the year!¬† His leaders, Tim and Harlan, held a special ceremony for the den after the pack meeting just for Justin, where they painted his face and even saluted him at the end!¬†¬†Click the above picture to see¬†all the pics!

In Loving Memory of Doris Rae Meldrum

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lisa’s grandmother, Doris Meldrum. While we will miss her dearly here on Earth, we know that she is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where there is no more pain and a perfect peace. And if there is travel in heaven, we’re pretty convinced she’s taking advantage of every trip they offer.
Following is her obituary as it appeared in the Arizona Republic on Sunday, September 21st, 2008:
“Doris Rae Meldrum of Mesa, AZ passed away September 18, 2008. She was born in Tucson, AZ. and is survived by her husband Donald, children, Susan McCulla, Linda Liesch and Roger Schmuck, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a retired manager at First Federal Savings and Loan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mesa and a member of PEO. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Hansen Chapel of Prayer Mortuary, 108 N. 56th St. Mesa, AZ. 85205. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., Ste A-100, Phoenix, AZ 85021”
Gigi, we miss you dearly.

Justin lost his first tooth!

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Ok…it’s been awhile! Soooo…to start off on the right track again we decided to start with a BIG bang and let everyone know our very special and exciting news!
Are you all ready??? Are you sure???? Well then…here is goes!!
Justin just…are you sure you’re really ready??? He just lost his first tooth, yep you heard it right! We were at our first annual Edu-Prize get together at Jeanne’s house and Justin’s favorite girl friend, Yvonne (a very special friend and one of my co-workers) was playing around with Justin’s tooth. She then said that she needed to pull it out and you guessed it…she got it! A little twist and a pull and Justin’s tooth just came out with a lot of excitement from all around.
It was an emotional moment for Justin (when he saw all the blood) and then when all the other kids at the party asked what happened, Justin was excited to say…”I just lost my tooth!” Not only did he loose a tooth, but you can now see the one coming in from behind.
We are now inviting the tooth fairy over and pray that the rates for baby teeth aren’t too expensive!!

Justin’s 6th Birthday

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Justin on the water slide

Another year has passed and Justin turned 6 over the weekend! His birthday landed on, in my opinion, the best day of the week for a birthday to land on: Friday. Why is it the best? Because you get 3 days of celebration, which is exactly what happened!
He started on Friday with us waking him up and singing Happy Birthday to him. Then he got to take Spongebob cupcakes to school and they sang to him again. Then I picked him up and took him to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, where he got to play in the playplace and rounded it up with an ice cream cone. Then Lisa took him to the Arizona Science Center in the afternoon, after which we went to Red Robin for dinner where he got MORE ice cream and they sang to him AGAIN! What a day! However, the fun didn’t stop there. Click below to keep reading and hear about the big party!
